DEAR SIR:
Referring to the attached prices would say, since the advance in Broom Corn the market has held steady, and considering the quickness and scope of the rise in prices, trade has been fully equal to expectations so far. Predictions have been made by a few minor parties that brush would seek a lower level in price, but statements of this kind can usually be traced to empty Warehouses whose proprietors would be glad to see a decline in order to get in a few cars of stock.
There is no “corner” in Broom Corn or combination of financial interests to effect one. Brush has advanced purely on its own merits; an actual shortage in the supply being the cause.
The stocks held by dealers and manufacturers, with few exceptions, are small and widely scattered, and are also insufficient to meet their natural wants until the next crop. These stocks cannot be replenished in the country to-day as the country markets are all practically bought up. Only a few scattering lots remain, and they are held at speculative figures.
Broom Handles and Broom Wire have advanced slightly as you will note from our present quotations.
